Check out what's happening this year in Play it Strange!
Each year a lot of people, especially young budding musical artists take part.
A few events to watch out for and enter are the National Secondary School Songwriting Competition also the Peace Song competition, and the fantastic Band of Strangers.
The Play It Strange Charitable Trust formed back in November 2003 to get encourage and help young New Zealanders to develop interests and skills in songwriting and musical performance.
The entries are now open for the 2008 National Secondary school songwriting competition.
The top 40 receive a professional recording studio session, and inclusion on the Play it strange Top 40 CD. If your in the Top 20 you will receive retail credit from NZ Rockshops, New Zealand's premium musical Instrument retailer.

The winners of the 2007 Play It Strange Secondary School Songwriting Competition were
Deakin Palmer from Hutt Valley high School and Marco Vinten from Hutt International Boys School with their song 'Commuter Train'.
The Lyric Award went to Anna Macdonald, St Hilda's Collegiate School, Dunedin - with her song 'Home'.

If your in year 12 & 13, and go to an Auckland Secondary School you can sign up to play in a Band of Strangers, with the Black Seeds and Elemeno P.
Be Quick as entries close 12th May.
The Band of Strangers concert is at the Logan Campbell Centre, ASB Showgrounds, Greenlane, Auckland 7pm Saturday 24th May.
