Mission-On 2 Town No. 3: Franz Josef!

Franz Josef is a small town located on the West Coast of the South Island, named after the famous Franz Josef Glacier, which is only 5km from town! The Franz Josef Glacier starts in the Southern Alps, and makes it's way down towards the Tasman Sea. It's one of only 3 glaciers in the world to come so close to a coastline.

Just north of Franz Josef is the small village of Okarito. From here you can take a guided tour through the Tai Poutini National Park, which is home to around 200 Okarito Brown kiwi!

Towns across New Zealand each featured over a whole week of Studio 2! We met the locals, found out about the history of the area, and got involved in some local activities! When 'Mission On - 2Town' rolled through each town, 8 kids got the chance to represent their town in some sporting challenges, with their efforts combining to create an overall score on the '2Town' leaderboard!
