Air New Zealand Fashion week had its eighth annual event from the 16th to the 21st September in Auckland. Each year there is one action packed week full of fashion, so be sure to mark the '09' Air NZ Fashion week on you calendars for next year!!

It's a busy and exciting time for fashion designer and followers and great place to see a mix of the best NZ designers.
This years event was a great success. It's fantastic to see NZ's fashion designers doing so well.

If your into fashion, and especially if you are considering following it as a career path, then Air New Zealand fashion week is always a fantastic event you'll want to keep an eye on.

Some key trends coming through for summer and winter 09 are:

Structure
We will be seeing bold creative trends. Inspiration coming from the energy of the elegance and architecture of contemporary cities. Cropped/elongated jackets with skinny jeans continuing.

Dark City
Very post - industrial, neo-army. Grunge, punk bogan references. Playing with contrasting lengths, layering of classic pieces such as overcoats, uniform inspired coats. Both slim and baggy jeans, with aged, greasy, torn up finishes.

Electro-Active
Classics given a new lease of life through the spread of bright colours. Boxy coats, cardigan blazers, drill work pants, maxi-pocket slacks, tube dresses and belted t-shirts. Beautiful brights such as electric blue, flashy orange, purples and pinks.

Techno-Romance
Familiar yet strange periods are mixed together seeing vintage get revamped. Loose cardigans and sheer sweaters. Skinny jeans, tights, frilly petticoats and pleated skirts, loose panels reminiscent of petals and feathers, artificial colours with neutrals crossed by flashy grating colours.
