Ever wanted to take a stroll down the streets of San Fransisco, but haven't been able to travel there?

Well it's not exactly the same,
but with Google Maps' new “Street View” feature, it's easier to see
that 'being there is everything.'

Rotating the camera from the same position, on the same street as the Empire State Building, New York.

Google Maps is pretty much a form of Google Earth that you can view within a website on your browser. It lets you see almost any location in the world, think of it like a map that covers every inch of the globe visible from a satellite view. Now while this is impressive, Google Maps has a new feature where you can click on any of the applied streets, and actually 'walk down that street' using a clever sequence of images. You can rotate the camera so that it's very similar to say... actually walking down Van Ness Avenue in San Fransisco:

... We took a wrong turn after China and found ourselves here.

If you wish to try it out yourself, just Click Here .
Though, if you're on a slower internet connection then this might not be your ideal website. You need the latest plug-ins to view the feature. If don't have them, then Google Maps will prompt you to download about 50,000 plug-ins to see it, but it's worth such just to witness the technology. It's also worth noting that since this little trait is new, it's only been applied to a few cities. There'll be more later but yeah, you won't be going to Tokyo anytime soon my friend.
... Unless like... You know... You actually go to Tokyo. Anyway, check it out and leave a word or two in the forums:
