It's a coffee table personal computer... That's right.

Another release from Microsoft, to turn your coffee table into a touch-screen computer.
|
| This thing has been anticipated from time to time now, and it looks
cool. Think of a coffee table, with a screen on the top, and when you
touch the screen you can manipulate what's on it. For example, you can
upload a photograph onto your Surface, put your fingers on two of the
corners, then pull-out, crunch and rotate the picture in real-time. You
can do the same to videos while they're playing, and one of the demo's
of this thing in action has a cool yet superfluous clip of a 'pond' on
the screen, and someone waving their fingertips over it, causing
ripples where contact is made. |
Notice the rings appearing around whatever object you place upon it.
|

"Hey, lookit that!"
|
|
Why you wouldn't just fill up a bowl and do the same thing is beyond us... But it does prove what the Surface is capable of. It shows that you can perform all of your actions in real-time with almost no delay what-so-ever. Still... You can do that with a real bowl with real water too.

Another cool feature is wirelessly connecting it to such things like a digital camera... You just place the camera on the Surface, then watch the photos from within the cam 'sweep' on-screen on the Surface. You can manipulate these images also. And whenever anything is resting on your Surface, be it a coffee cup, a camera, or your dog that just doesn't learn to get off the thing... you'll see cool little ambiance 'halo's' emitting from wherever something is sitting on it.

"What does this button do?"

It's quite large, with a 30” screen, and very cool. Though to say you wouldn't be scared to put a drink on there without paranoia on spilling something on it... Yeah... Nobody is that brave. Also, this thing won't be available for purchase to put in your home at first, it's more suited for big businesses, being all big... And “businessy”.
It's supposed to initially cost $5,000-$10,000 USD, so it'll be a while before we can get one!
